DANISH FURNITURE DESIGN
in the 20th Century

Dansk Møbelkunst, in collaboration with Christian Ejlers, is very pleased to announce the release of the English version of the book 'Danish Furniture Design in the 20th Century'.

The 20th Century was an unrivalled piece of history for Danish furniture design.
The book covers the entire period - the foundations laid by the 'Klint School' in the 1920's, the 'golden age' in the middle of the century which established so many of the great Danish furniture designers, and the legacy they left behind. The final chapter of volume 2 deals with the complex situation faced by the new generation of Danish furniture designers - will they be able to leave a mark on the 21st Century equal to their predecessors.

Danish Furniture Design in the 20th Century is written by Professor Arne Karlsen (1927 - )
An architect and furniture designer, as well as a Professor of interior and industrial design at Aarhus School of Architecture, Arne Karlsen is regarded as one of the greatest connoisseurs of Danish furniture design. Few have been as close to the centre of events as Arne Karlsen. His extensive firsthand knowledge has been beautifully transferred to the pages of this invaluable book. The narrative is so fluent and absorbing that the book is difficult to put down.

If you wish to know anything about 20th Century Danish furniture design this book is a must read. Following its Danish release in 1990 it was widely regarded as a masterpiece within its field by reviewers and the public alike.
It contains many original drawings and beautiful photographs by architectural photographer Aage Lund Jensen.
